Canada Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) Policy Update

Effective November 1, 2024, the Canadian Government requires all PGWP applicants to meet a minimum English or French language proficiency level corresponding to Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7 (equivalent to IELTS General Training 6.0).
Navitas International Colleges (FIC, ICM, TMUIC, WLIC, and UICC) continue to provide robust degree pathway programs, ensuring that eligible students remain qualified to apply for a 3-year Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) upon successful graduation.
FIC Accepts IELTS 4.5 for January Intake
To support students affected by the closure of university English Language Centres (ELCs), Fraser International College (FIC) will continue to accept an IELTS score of 4.5 for the Cornerstone Foundation program starting in January.
To ensure academic success, the FIC academic team will provide supplemental tutoring and English language support throughout the program.
Equivalent English Language Test Requirements:
  • IELTS Academic: 4.5
  • TOEFL iBT: 40
  • Internal English Test: 41
  • Duolingo English Test (DET): 65

Applications for the January and May intakes are now open for all programs (including STEM) at the University Transfer Program Stage 1 (UTP1) and International Year One (UTP2).

  • Spring Intake Scholarship: All new students enrolling for the spring intake will automatically be considered for a 2,000 CAD entrance scholarship.
