The University of York has announced official updates to its English language proficiency requirements. Please review the key changes, applicable courses, and action items below.
Applicability
Entry Term: September intake
Target Audience: Undergraduate and taught Master's applicants
Exclusions: Hull York Medical School is exempt from this update.
Score Adjustments
The minimum requirements have been revised as follows:
7.0 (with no component below 6.5) is now 6.5 (with no component below 6.0).
6.5 (writing 6.5, other sections 6.0) is now 6.0 (writing 6.0, other sections 5.5).
6.5 (with no component below 6.0) is now 6.0 (with no component below 5.5).
6.0 (with no component below 5.5) remains completely unchanged.
Note on language courses: If your prior direct entry requirement was 6.5 (writing 6.0), pre-sessional language course matching requirements remain calculated based on the 6.5 standard.
